Generic SIP Phones

Generic SIP Phones #

Although not automatically provisioned, generic SIP phones can still be used on ~.Dimensions.~, but they will need to be manually provisioned. This applies to both hard phones or third-party softphone solutions.

Provisioning Generic SIP Devices #

To add a generic SIP device to the ~.Dimensions.~, follow the normal process on the Devices page but select 'SIP' as the manufacturer:

A new device will be created with a random MAC address. Assign this device to a user as required.

SIP Connectivity #

The SIP registration details and credentials must be manually configured using the specific details of the newly created device. The information required to manually register a device can be found by pressing the 'Config' link for the device and navigating to the 'SIP' tab:

The Outbound Proxy details must be set in order to avoid call control problems during transfers.

Any other configuration for the device must be implemented locally. None of the ~.Dimensions.~ customer default configurations will be applied to manually configured devices.
